Labor Day Statement in Support of System Administration Employees
Labor Day Statement in Support of System Administration Employees. The following resolution was passed unanimously by the UUP System Administration Executive Board.

Resolution in support of SUNY System Administration Employees Whereas, The State University of New York (SUNY) has taken the nearly unprecedented step of retrenching the entire Nylink operation; and Whereas, This decision results in a forthcoming loss of employment for loyal public servants many of whom have years if not decades of service to the State University of New York; and Whereas, This retrenchment has an impact on members of United University Professions, Civil Service Employees Association, and New York State Management/Confidential employees; and Whereas, SUNY has eliminated the jobs of all System Administration public safety employees; and Whereas, New York State has attempted to furlough its employees threatening them with a 20% reduction in pay; and Whereas, This attempt has been ruled unconstitutional by a United States Federal Court; and Whereas, The State University of New York has announced furloughs of its Management/Confidential employees at System Administration; therefore be it Resolved, That the United University Professions System Administration Chapter Executive Board calls on The State University of New York to follow through on commitments to utilizing reserve monies, to fully advocate for State University of New York funding in the future, and other actions to prevent such impacts on loyal employees; be it further, Resolved, That the United University Professions System Administration Chapter Executive Board condemns the Nylink retrenchment; and, be it further, Resolved, That the United University Professions System Administration Chapter Executive Board expresses its support for all colleagues hit by these job actions regardless of their unit, designation or collective bargaining agent. (Approved unanimously August 16, 2010)
